Market Actors

The AIB shall be the leading enabler of international energy certificate schemes.
The Association of Issuing Bodies – the AIB – promotes the use of a standardised system, based on harmonised environment, structures and procedures in order to ensure the reliable operation of international energy certificate systems. This standardised system is known as EECS – the European Energy Certificate System – and is set out in The Principles and Rules of Operation (the EECS Rules) and its supporting documents.

Distribution Network : Eandis manages the distribution system for electricity (low or medium voltage) and gas (low and medium pressure), and ensures the safety of energy supplies for residential and business customers

Transport Network : Elia operates the 380-26 kV transmission grid in Belgium. Elia is:

• the federal transmission system operator;
• a distribution grid operator in Flanders;
• the regional transmission system operator in Brussels;
• the local transmission system operator in Wallonia.
